Q: How old does someone have to be to apply to be a Safety Captain?
A: A person has to be between 15 and 19 years old.

Q: This looks like a teen program, is it really a job?
A: Yes. It is a youth development program that hires teens to work in a part-time job, and where teens use their own skills and talents and learn or deepen skills like research, data collection, interviewing; and even art skills!
 
Q: How do I apply?
A: You will need to complete an application. You can click here to be taken to the application.
 
Q: Will this job be in-person or virtual? A: We always prioritize people's safety, so our decision to meet in-person or virtually takes into consideration the best way to keep people safe. We DO plan to meet in-person as long as safe to do so. EVERYONE at Fab Youth Philly is required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and to wear a mask while indoors at work.

Q: Will I have to have an interview?
A: Yes. It will be a group interview, with multiple people applying for the Safety Captain job, and there will be multiple people from Fab Youth Philly asking the questions. Here are some tips for preparing for a successful group interview: Be confident and don't be shy. Do a little research about the company to develop a few questions to ask the interviewers. Here is a brief video to help you understand what a group interview may be like.
 
Q: How should I dress for a group interview?
Dress comfortably and in a way that represents what professional means to you.

Q: Do I need a resume?
A: No, you do not need a resume, but if you have one, you should include it in your application. You can use this example to create or update your resume if you'd like.

Q: Do I have to have previous experience or ever had a job before?
A: No.

Q: How much do Safety Captains get paid?
A: $9.00 hour (taxes are automatically taken out of each paycheck, learn more about how that works through this video and this one).
 
Q: How often do Safety Captains get paid?
A: Every two weeks by check or direct deposit.

Q: Where do the Safety Captains work?
A: The Safety Captains work in West Philadelphia, specifically in 19104. We work both remotely/virtually and in-person.

Q: Where is your office located?
A: 3509 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

Q: What about Covid-19 Do Safety Captains meet and work in-person or virtually?
A: We care a lot about your safety! We DO meet & work IN-PERSON and require that everyone wear a mask indoors when they come to work. If we need to switch to a virtual or hybrid situation to keep everyone (more) safe, we can do that.
